Alwalton Peterborough Alwalton has been closed for a good few years.
I believe it is a housing estate now .
I used to race there in a team called the Gits ,myself (Mark Saunders) the Fatgit , Mark Thomson the Uglygit , Andy Saunders the Softgit and Kev Harland the Drunkgit.
The track was a very long concrete track very fast with decent corners.

Its meetings were always on Sundays with about 9 formulas every time , this meant you could virtually rebuild a banger in between races.

The bangers had a 2litre limit they were quite tame most of the time, but had its moments.

Towards the end of its time the rules got too strict too call it banger racing, locally the track was known as Toytown. the track itself with armco fence I would rate 9/10 but it was let down by too many formulas, too many favourite drivers, the toilets were too small and too far away from the crowd and drivers
...... but the chip van and burger bar were top

West Sussex A super fast track concrete with armco barrier on the outside. Very high speed racing which makes the bangers a bit unpredictable and slightly dangerous. Can have better organisation but is generally well run. Good days racing and well worth a visit. Be the first to votes for this track 532 Rate this track

Last meeting was on the 29th October 2006, the site will now be used to build houses on it.
Same as they did at Newtongrange.
Now CLOSED DOWN, but was a small, fast oval like a mini hednesford. only needed a few cars for great crashes.aftermath, condoms expressed interest in the team meeting and maverick ex-champ wanted to do barrow some day.just shows what a great track it was. Excellent 91 Rate this track

“I raced at Brampton this week end just gone and it was blinding. The people were very welcoming and helpful. It took me 3 hours to get there. one of the blokes even offered to go home to get me a lower wishbone another offering a place to stay for this week ends meeting. Could not ask to meet a better bunch of racers. This track is what racing is all about.”

Crimond Crimond Airfield Near Peterhead (North of Aberdeen A90, Scotland) Crimond (Rattray)
Crimond's claim to fame is that it was the Admiralty that discovered it instead of the Air Ministry Aerodromes board. The name was later changed to Rattray after the name of the headland. Work on the airfield was started in March 1943, The airfield had four runways instead of the traditional three.
The site was commissioned for use on 3rd October 1944 as HMS Merganser, the airfield had been in use since the previous July by 774 Squadron for Telegraphist Air Gunner training. Several Barracuda Training units were resident due to the need for Observer training schools.
In May 1944, 714 Squadron moved in from Fearn for Torpedo Bombing Reconnaissance training, 717 Squadron arrived in November to perform a similar role. Due to the Barracudas required handling, crashes were frequent, four barracudas were wrecked and other damaged by hitting towers, aerials and other aircraft.
Two squadrons were formed at Rattray in 1945, these were 817 & 818 Squadrons, and these moved away in the first half of 1945. During this time
753 Squadron from Arbroath was operating aircraft for Observer training. 753 Squadron disbanded in August 1946. Rattray was closed on 1st September 1946 when it went to care and maintenance.
Today, 900ft Radio Masts are visible on the old runways, large parts of the outer perimeter are used for Oil Industry storage and at weekends there is a car racing circuit.

A small but quite quick dirt track that is situated on a small slope, giving you an uphill and downhill, the down hill section takes you over the start/finish line over some bumps into the pits bend,to tight and you run over the tyres that mark the track,to wide and with a bit of help you are into a ditch and dirt bank, there are ditches and banks all the way round so you can get a rough ride if you hit one of them

At the end of the day its a back to basics track where many of todays stars started driving, John Randal raced there for several years and won the track championship, little brother Jimmy started in the junior minis,Derek Caton was a regular along with Markand Nigel Webb whos father won the track championship mainly using 3lt mk4 Zodiacs.

The annual 2lt team meeting is very good with the Northen Steam team coming down and winning it one year Essex Elite were regulars the Allstars won it two years ago and will be having a try this year, clockwork orange used to go as well as the gladiators.

Tongham Tongham Motor Club, Brick Kiln Farm, Four Marks, Nr Alton

Just off the A31 between Four Marks and Alton.
Tongham Motor Club (TMC) was formed in 1972 by a group of people who wanted to race cars, but could not afford the forms of motor sport then available. They rented a field and raced saloon cars such as Ford Anglia's and Austin A40's around a quarter mile oval circuit. These cars were totally road standard, with only a roll cage added and the glass removed.

As the club grew over the years, further classes of cars were added, culminating in today's eight formulas, from basic standard saloons through to Hot Rods, plus we do Juniors and novice Junior races. Track facilities have also improved and after several moves, TMC is now based at Brick Kiln Farm, Four Marks, Nr Alton. The track is well signposted from the A31, from which there is direct access via the farm road.

Racing commences at 11.00 a.m. and all eight formulas are raced at each meeting, plus extras such as ladies, mechanics and marshals races, which gives over twenty races per meeting. Refreshments are available all afternoon from the TMC canteen and there is also ample free spectator car parking.

TMC is a member of SEGTO (South Eastern Grass Track Organisation) which is the governing body for grass track racing in the South of England. As well as formulating the racing rules and regulations, SEGTO organises a yearly championship which runs through the whole season from April to October. Each member club hosts one round and all drivers are eligible to race for the SEGTO Championship, resulting in fierce competition from every club for the trophies.

TMC aims to provide affordable motor racing for its drivers, an exciting day out for the spectators and encourages families as well. It doesn't matter whether you are a competitor or a spectator, you are always assured of a very warm welcome at Brick Kiln Farm.

You will find that TMC is a friendly club, although on the track its every man or woman for themselves.

All TMC meetings are attended by the St Johns Ambulance, to whom TMC extend their grateful thanks.

Waikaraka Park Auckland, New Zealand.

Waikaraka Park is very accessible, being situated in Neilson Street, Onehunga, on the edges of Manukau Harbour within easy reach of all facilities.
Stockcar racing in Auckland (commonly known by most racers as the "Big Smoke") started in the 1950's at Western Springs. After a while the Stockcar racers moved to Epsom, racing there for a while successfully. Stockcar racing then moved to Gloucester Park, and then in the mid to late 1960's, moved to it's present location at Waikaraka Park, where they have raced ever since.

The United States and Allied Forces used Waikaraka Park originally during World War II, and they erected a two-tier concrete grandstand, which is very sturdy and is still used to this day.

The track is a 460m long dirt oval, with a modern concrete wall & catch fence around the outsides of the race surface for protection. Wire ropes and strong netting are used as a reinforced catch fence.

Metal Mania is a very good event, (Wartons season highlight) with around 60 cars. The Bears usually turn up to this meet and the team meeting is always good.

I have been to Wimbledon, its fantastic, brilliant evening out, kids are welcome and as it is an enclosed arena you get even more of an atmosphere! The world champion ships is held there every year and I have never experienced such adrenalin in my life as I have there. you don't know what banger racing is about unless you have been to a world champion ship meeting at Wimbledon Stadium. I don't even like cars!!!

meetings are normally held in the evenings just to add that little bit more of excitement, there are flood lights and you can ether sit inside in the sheltered area and watch through the glass or stand out side. If your really lucky they will do a figure of 8 race!

Its a smallish track, with excellen amenities, tarmac track, which can see a fair speed gained down the straights. Safety is paramount to the organisers, it features a grandstand type enclosure, which also has TV's in, which shows replays of a previous race in between races.
Entry is a bit steep, but great entertainment is provided.
