“TIPSY’S” BANGER SOCIAL / PARTY NIGHT 2 - Sunday 25th May

“TIPSY’S” BANGER SOCIAL / PARTY NIGHT II

After the success of last years Banger Party Night, I’m holding another one this year.
“TIPSY’S” BANGER SOCIAL / PARTY NIGHT II, will take place on Sunday 25th May.

For all those who attended last year, it became apparent that everyone thought I should make it an annual event, so here you are!!

For those who don’t know me, I’m Steve “Tipsy” Evett, (“TipsySteve”) who a few of you might have seen at Arlington where I’ve raced in National & Rookie Bangers & Robin Reliants, but probably more likely, you’ll have seen me with camera in hand at various tracks at the Big National Banger Meetings around the country taking photos for “BangerPhotos.com”, & “Wellbent”

I would like to invite everyone who’s into the Banger scene (drivers, mechanics, crew, photographers, marshals, organisers, promoters & fans) to my 2nd Party / Social Night at my pub –
“The Kingfisher Tavern” at Langney, Eastbourne (1O mins from Arlington) on Sunday 25th May, starting at 7.3Opm & going on til late!

There will be a Live Rock Band providing the “Live” music for the night!!
(Unfortunately Simon Reed’s Band couldn’t make it this year, although Simon was up for it!!)

There will also be various Banger DVDs & Videos playing all night on the giant screen & 2 tvs! (3 different ones at any one time) plus a Raffle etc etc. – Maybe even some more “Big Hits” & “Waving In” demonstrations with the Yellow Pages!!!

There will be a £1 per person charge to help towards paying the band & a bit of grub!!

The main reason for the bash, is to say THANK YOU to the drivers etc who provide the entertainment all year round, & offer them the chance to meet up away from track & enjoy a purely social night & PARTY PARTY!! - but who needs a reason to party anyway??

It would be great to see drivers etc from any promotion / location, (Arlington, Wimbledon, RDC – Mildenhall/Dover, PRI, Smallfield, Standlake, Horndean, Kings Lynn!!? etc)

So why not make the trip, even if you’re gonna be late, after racing earlier in the day!!

The 14OOcc Banger Teams meeting takes place at Arlington the following day (26th May - Bank Holiday Monday) & there are already several teams interested in travelling down in advance & staying over, including teams from “The Aftermath”, “The Predators”, The “Wild Ones”- Bullys, & maybe “Six Bolt” or “Six Bolt Rejects” so maybe some other teams / drivers might do the same! – Don’t forget to get booked in, if you’re racing at the Teams meeting!!

I'll be out & about around the tracks for most of the big meetings during April & May, Mildenhall, Warneton (The Happy Coach), Cowdenbeath, Nutts Corner or Aldershot, Wimbledon, & Sheffield, with flyers & details if anyone wants to know more, or ask anything!

If you want to know more, phone “Tipsy” on O7946 6O494O or you can email at kingfishertavern@tiscali.co.uk

There has already been a fair bit of interest shown, & it would be great to see some of the Teams / Faces from last year, as well as some new ones!! - So who's up for it this year?

“The Kingfisher Tavern” is at Langney Shopping Centre & has a huge car park, which is empty at night, & has cctv, so parking lorries etc is no problem!!

The full address is Langney Shopping Centre, 116 Kingfisher Drive, Eastbourne, East Sussex, BN23 7RT

If travelling in to Eastbourne via the A22 or A27 follow signs for Hospital A&E, the crematorium & Langney which is between Hampden Park & Westham.

For accomodation, there's a “Premier travel inn” 1/4 mile away www.premiertravelinn.com or tel O87O 242 8OOO or the “Inn Keeper's Lodge” half a mile away (www.innkeeperslodge.com tel O87O 243 O5OO)
If you want a normal B&B or hotel then there's loads in Eastbourne seafront which is about 2 - 3 miles from the pub! - Search B&Bs or Hotels on the net.

NORMAL SERVICE HAS RESUMED !!

The site has now been updated and I can happily say that normal service has been resumed.

The only downside is that everything from before April has not been transferred over (unless you have a particular meeting you would like me to pop back on)due to the quantity and the time it would take.

The new company I have chosen is called "WinkFlash" and they will require you to register with them the first time you click on the picture albums in order to view the galleries, but this is a quick and painless thing to do.

If you are ordering pictures please ensure you are quoting the correct picture number that you want.....

Enjoy the site and see you at the tracks !!

Regards

Karl and all at BangerPhotos.

The response so far has been very favourable and so it looks as though we have the "Green Light" for this to go ahead....

The exception to Hatchbacked motors will be Classics (Pre 1974) of up to 1400cc which can be estates as well.
The race field will be split into 2 groups (up to 1200cc and Over 1200cc)
The race field will have the option to race "All in" in the DD's after the opening races have been run.

Header Tanks, Bonnet Bolts are allowed, as well as much welding / protection on the Drivers door only.

It is (cough, cough) Nudge and Spin Bangers so no stupid hits will be tolerated......(Length of Straight hits etc)

Its going to be a fun day, so if anyone is going to spit their dummies out because their paint got scratched, please stick to spectating.

If you want to have some fun, and get rid of those under-powered pieces of poo that you are all weighing-in at the moment, then get building, and I'll see you down there !!

CRASH BURN LOVE U.S. DEMOLITION DERBY PHOTOGRAPHS

Crash Burn Love, a series of photographs and essays on the all-American sport of Demolition Derbies, by Bill Lowenburg is now available in the UK. The 108 page book features 80 black and white photographs that capture the gritty and gasoline soaked atmosphere of the full-contact motorsport.

“I’d seen demo derbies on TV, as a kid, but never witnessed one live,” the photographer recalls, “I thought there might be interesting action in the pit area and made arrangements to photograph there. Within five minutes of arriving, I knew this would be next project, and that I wanted to produce a book.”

In the event that book would take almost a decade of work during which Bill has managed to grab some really candid and atmospheric shots of the frantic work in the pits and the frantic action on the circuit.

The photographer clearly did not come to shoot the sport as some kind of a freak show and his respect for the subject matter and the people involved shows in the finished work. “I’ve seen guys perform incredible feats of mechanical improvisation that someone with a PHD in engineering would be proud of,” he says, “plus the whole scene is just a hell of a lot of fun.”

Further information on ‘Crash Burn Love’ is priced at $29.95 in softback and $49.95 for the hardback version. Please check with the publisher for shipping to the UK orders@backstreetbooks.com website www.backstreetbooks.com Mail PO Box 721 Stroudsburg, PA 18630 USA.

DAVID "BEECH" BEAUCHAMP, NATIONAL BANGER RACER

It is with the deepest regret that Spedeworth South has to announce the death of National Banger racer David Beauchamp, who was involved in a fatal racing accident at Bovingdon Raceway on Sunday, September 18th.

David was a visiting driver to Bovingdon and taking part in the final race of the day when the incident occurred. St Johns Ambulance was on the scene within seconds, closely followed by the Hertfordshire Fire Brigade, Ambulance service and Air Ambulance.

Deane and Janet Wood, Spedeworth South promoters and the entire Spedeworth team wish to express their sincerest condolences to David’s family and friends at this tragic time.

Spedeworth South would also like to express heart felt thanks to the emergency crews, especially the first on the scene St Johns Ambulance, who did all within their power to aid the driver and to offer comfort to his friends and racing colleagues gathered at the scene of the accident.

Deane Wood, Spedeworth South promoter said, “We know that David was a popular and well-liked driver at his local track. We are devastated that such a tragedy should happen to a visitor to Bovingdon and can only join with his family, friends and fellow racers in expressing our sadness.”

Spedeworth South is cooperating fully with the Hertfordshire Police and Health and Safety Executive. A further statement will be issued when the inquiry into this tragic accident is completed.

.

In addition to the above statement, can I also add that no photograph taken at yesterdays meeting will be loaded onto this website as a sign of respect to Dave's family and friends.

He will be surely missed, may all our prayers be with him, his family and close friends during this difficult time.
